Australian giant Adam Gotsis has been named in the Denver Broncos' 46-man squad for the NFL season opener against the Carolina Panthers.
The game, scheduled to begin 10.30am AEST on Friday in Denver, will be a baptism of fire for the 193cm tall, 130kg rookie defensive tackle, with the Panthers desperate to avenge their loss to the Broncos in last season's Super Bowl.
The Broncos had to deactivate seven players for the game but 23-year-old Gotsis, who has impressively rebounded from a serious knee injury, forced his way into the game day squad.
