Aussie upheaval delights South Africans

South African captain Faf du Plessis says he's delighted at causing a massive upheaval in Australian cricket.

South African captain Faf du Plessis takes great delight at causing Australian cricket's greatest upheaval in a generation.

Australia have ripped their Test team apart in the wake of consecutive losses to South Africa, making five changes for the third Test starting Thursday in Adelaide.

And du Plessis couldn't be happier.

"I was very surprised to see the changes to that extent," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"When you think of Australian cricket teams of past - I saw a tweet of David Hussey where he said he'd made 15,000 runs and never got a crack at playing for Australia.

"To see the changes now, that brings pleasure to see what we're doing.

"What we're doing is creating something in the Australian team they feel they need to change.

"If I was sitting in that team, a lot of changes mean you're trying to change everything in your team. I would rather be sitting on my side."

Du Plessis said a 3-0 series whitewash was motivating his team.

"As a leader, you want to be part of creating history - that's something we have done," he said, referring to the Proteas becoming the first nation to win three consecutive Test series in Australia since the mighty West Indies in the 1980s-early 1990s.

"I don't want to miss out on that. We've played very good cricket, we've got something going and it's important to keep that going."
