Aussie win gold in mixed 4x50m medley

Aussie swimmers Robert Hurley, Christian Sprenger, Alicia Coutts and Cate Campbell bested a team China to win gold in the mixed 4x50m medley in Beijing.

Australian swimmers are making the newly-introduced mixed 4x50m medley relay their own, notching up yet another World Cup win.

The Aussies have set four world records this World Cup in the event, which was introduced this year.

No world records were broken in Beijing on Wednesday, but an Australian quartet yet again took gold.

Robert Hurley, Christian Sprenger, Alicia Coutts and Cate Campbell bested a team China, clocking 1:38.23.

Meanwhile, South Africa's Chad Le Clos and Hungary's Katinka Hosszu closed in on World Cup victory, taking three medals apiece as the short-course swimming competition's final leg.

Beijing is the eighth and final stop in this year's World Cup series, which kicked off in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, in August and continued on to Berlin, Moscow, Dubai, Doha, Singapore and Tokyo.
