Aussies addicted to work emails

Australians have been crowned the world's most addicted when it comes to checking work emails during holidays.

Australians are addicted to checking work emails during holidays, with more than a third of employees planning to log on during the Christmas break.

The Randstad Workmonitor recruitment survey shows 35 per cent of Australians plan to monitor their inboxes over Christmas, the highest percentage recorded in any country.

Almost 30 per cent of Canadian workers said they would keep a check on their work emails, followed by 26 per cent of British workers and 25 per cent of those in New Zealand.

The survey also showed around a fifth of Australian workers are expected to be available to work over the festive season.

Australians are also far less confident of receiving a pay rise in 2014 than they were in 2013, with only 58 per cent of employees believing they will receive a raise in the new year compared to 75 per cent who thought their pay would increase in 2013.
