Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has once again stood tall for Australia, taking three wickets as Ireland were bowled out for 198 in their one-off one-day international in Benoni on Tuesday.
After Steve Smith lost the toss in the South African city near Johannesburg, Ireland were charging along at 1-121 in the 23rd over and would've been eyeing a score of above 250 on a nice batting surface.
However Zampa, in just his 13th ODI and coming off an impressive tour of Sri Lanka, put the brakes on and took the key wickets of skipper Will Porterfield (24) and Kevin O'Brien (23) in finishing with 3-37 from his 10 overs.
Swing bowler Daniel Worrall took the new ball on his ODI debut for Australia, and was denied his first wicket when Gary Wilson successfully reviewed a caught-behind decision.
However the 25-year-old broke through not long after when he drew an edge from the same batsman which was snaffled by wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.
Worrall ended with 1-43 from 10 overs in a solid display that will give him a chance to play a part in the five-match ODI series against South Africa which starts in Centurion on Friday.
He was well supported by his fellow pacemen John Hastings (2-31) and Scott Boland (2-42) as Ireland were dismissed in the 44th over.
Smith completed a smart run-out when Sean Terry was hit on the pads and with Worrall appealing for LBW and the Irishman wandering out of his crease, the skipper threw down the stumps from slip.
