Aussies humble South Africa in WC warm-up

The Australian women's cricket team has made light work of South Africa in a practice match ahead of the World Cup in England.

Elyse Villani smashed a century as Australia beat South Africa by 103 runs in a women's cricket World Cup warm-up match in England.

Villani's 137 runs from 112 balls included seven sixes as Australia posted 5-324 off their 50 overs in Oakham on Tuesday.

Ellyse Perry hit 67 to continue her strong batting form after making a century in the previous practice match victory over New Zealand.

The Proteas' run chase got off to the worst possible start when Beth Mooney ran out opener Lizelle Lee for a diamond duck.

Spinner Jess Jonassen starred with three wickets as South Africa were bowled out for 221 in the 50th over.

Australia meet Pakistan in Leicester on Thursday for their final hit-out before their tournament begins on June 26.

Meanwhile, the Southern Stars' first-up opponents the West Indies lost to Pakistan by five wickets in a warm-up match.
