Aussies make good start at Canoe Worlds

Beijing gold medallist Ken Wallace has enjoyed a good start to the World Sprint Canoe Championships in winning his K1 1000 heat.

Two of Australia's strongest medal prospects at the World Sprint Canoe Championships have shown strong form on their opening day of competition.

Beijing gold medallist Ken Wallace led all the way to win his heat of the K1 1000, while Jacob Clear and Murray Stewart dominated early before easing down to finish second in the K2 1000.

Stewart and Clear are one half of the men's K4 1000, who go into these World Championships as the reigning Olympic gold medallists.
