Patty Mills, Joe Ingles and Dante Exum are on the verge of moving through to the Western Conference NBA semi-finals.
Mills exploded with four three-pointers in the final quarter to fire the San Antonio Spurs to a 116-103 home-court win over the Memphis Grizzlies and take a 3-2 lead in their first-round series.
Game six will be played on Thursday night in Memphis, with a Spurs win setting up a semi-final match-up with the Houston Rockets and eliminating the Grizzlies from the playoffs.
"It's one of those games where you are fortunate to make shots," Mills, who connected with seven of his 10 field goals, including five of seven three-point attempts, for 18 points.
It was a postseason career high for the Canberra-raised Mills.
Spurs All-Star Kawhi Leonard had 28 points while the Grizzlies were led by guard Mike Conley with 26 points and centre Marc Gasol's 17.
Ingles, Exum and their Utah Jazz team can end the Los Angeles Clippers' hopes for another season with a game six win in front of a pumped up Salt Lake City home crowd on Friday night.
The Jazz outlasted the Clippers 96-92 in Los Angeles to take a 3-2 series lead.
Ingles was scoreless in 29 minutes on court, missing all four shot attempts.
He had four assists, well below his remarkable game four 11 assist effort, while Australian team-mate Dante Exum was scoreless in his four minutes.
Both were more than happy to play defensive roles, with Jazz forward Gordon Hayward scoring 27 points and guard Rodney Hood dropping four three-pointers in his 16 points to get the team a crucial road win.
"We don't want to come back to LA obviously," Ingles told reporters in the locker room.
"We have a couple of days to get healthy, prepare, get a bit of rest and be ready to go on Friday."
If the Jazz do eliminate the Clippers they will play the No.1 seeded Golden State Warriors in the semi-finals.
The Clippers, suffering from the loss of forward Blake Griffin last week with a season-ending foot injury, have never made it past the second round of the playoffs despite an All-Star laden team.
The Rockets, led by James Harden's 34 points, overcame the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-99 to clinch their first-round series 4-1.
The Thunder's Russell Westbrook produced another superhuman game with 47 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, but did not receive enough help from his supporting cast.
