Aussie's pink experience irrelevant: Kiwis

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum says Australia's greater experience with pink balls will be irrelevant when the historic day-night Test starts.

Australia's greater experience with pink balls is irrelevant to New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum.

The Kiwi captain says once play starts in the inaugural day-night Test match on Friday, Adelaide Oval will be a level playing field.

"Australia have had more pink ball work than what we have," McCullum said.

"But geez, does it really matter once you get underway?

"Once you're underway the advantages or disadvantages are kind of irrelevant."

Australia hold a one-nil lead entering the third and final Test but McCullum said he was highly motivated to win the historic fixture - and lead from the front.

"Batting-wise I probably haven't been at my best during the series," said McCullum, who has made 113 runs at an average of 37.66 in the series.

"But I feel as if I can get past those first 20 balls or whatever, then you can make an impact.

"And what a game to do it in ... the third match of a series against a very good Australian team, in their own conditions, in the first-ever day-night Test match.

"That is what whets the appetite. Now it's a matter of going out there and trying to execute those sorts of ambitions."
