Aust bowlers keen on post-Tests break

Mitchell Johnson says Australia's bowlers will be eyeing a break from cricket after the end of the Test series against India.

Australia's bowlers will be looking for a break after the SCG Test as they gear up for an arduous 2015, according to spearhead Mitchell Johnson.

They have an ODI tri series shortly following the Sydney Test, the Cricket World Cup, a tour of the West Indies and then the Ashes campaign.

Captain Steve Smith admitted his bowlers were cooked at the end to the MCG Test, following back-to-back Tests against India.

With some of their most important cricket ahead of them Johnson, says the bowling group is keen for a spell after the Sydney Test, which begins on Tuesday.

"Definitely, all us bowlers feel like we need to have a bit of a freshen up," Johnson said.

"So we'll just see what happens after this match here.

"And then we've got some one-dayers so hopefully I can get a bit of a break at some stage there.

"If not, just got to go out there and keep trying to do the best I can.

"I had a break after one dayers in Perth earlier which was to freshen me up and that was really helpful."

Australia and India kick off the tri series, also involving England, at the MCG on January 10.

Australia host the Old Enemy at the same venue on the opening day of the World Cup on February 14, ahead of the final at the MCG on March 29.

The two-Test series against the West Indies begins in Dominica on June 5.

The first Ashes Test begins at Cardiff's Sophia Gardens on July 8.
