Aust house prices up 1.7 pct in March qtr

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released house price data for the March quarter.

Australian capital city house prices rose 1.7 per cent in the March quarter, official figures show.

That followed a rise of 3.8 per cent in the December quarter.

In the year to March, the house price index rose 10.9 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.

Economists had expected a rise of 2.9 per cent for the March quarter.
