Australian MotoGP organisers are hoping for a break in the weather after torrential rain caused chaos at Phillip Island on Friday.
The second free practice session was delayed then cancelled as conditions deteriorated, forcing a reshuffle of Saturday's practice and qualifying sessions.
The revised program will start an hour earlier, but further forecast rain could cause even more disruption ahead of Sunday's race.
Local hope Jack Miller (Marc VDS Honda) excelled in a rain-affected first practice to finish third fastest behind Brit Cal Crutchlow on an LCR Honda.
The Queenslander didn't venture out onto the circuit before second practice was cancelled after 13 minutes with heavy rain causing dangerous run-off across the track.
Miller said calls for the race to be moved to an earlier point on the MotoGP calendar to take advantage of potentially milder conditions were wide of the mark.
"It's not going to happen because it's Phillip Island. You could have the race in summer and you still never know - (the weather) is a wildcard here," Miller said.
"It can be the loveliest place on planet Earth then you can come here four hours later and it looks like hell on Earth."
While a headache for organisers, the inclement weather could help Miller climb further up the standings in Sunday's race.
"It looks like a wet Saturday and maybe a dry Sunday, which might benefit us in the long run," he said.
"The guys on the factory bikes will have less time to set up with the stuff that they've got (which is) better than us.
"I've got high hopes for this weekend. It's a track I've always liked."
