Aust resident killed in fall in Istanbul

An Australian resident who travelled the world to attend dance parties has died in Istanbul after falling 10m when a makeshift bridge gave way.

An Australian resident has died after falling from a building in Istanbul.

New Zealand-born Keshia Handa, 31, fell 10m from the rooftop on Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Hurriyet Daily News website reports.

A grate placed between the roof of the hotel and the adjacent apartment created a makeshift bridge between the two buildings. Reports differ as to whether Ms Handa was dancing on the grate or whether she simply stepped on it and it gave way.

According to friends, Ms Handa lived in Australia and travelled the world to participate in dance parties.

She and two friends had checked in to the Grand London Hotel in Beyoglu three days earlier to attend a salsa dance party at the same hotel.
