Aust to have women's archery spot in Rio

Queenslander Semra Ferguson has qualified Australia for one women's archery quota spot at Rio after winning the Oceania Olympic qualifiers in Tonga.

Australia will have a female archery spot at Rio after Queenslander Semra Ferguson's victory at the Oceania Olympic qualifiers in Tonga.

Ferguson's win ensures Australia a quota spot in Rio, with the Australian champion favourite to secure selection next month when the team is announced.

Ferguson, who narrowly missed qualification at last year's world championships, finished ahead of fellow Australians Chloe Grabs and Ella Byrne in windy conditions.

Australia have already qualified a three-member men's team for the Olympics, which is likely to be selected from the quartet of Taylor Worth, Ryan Tyack, Alec Potts and Matt Gray.
