Australia will host a regional summit on countering violent extremism in June.

Government, civil society and industry representatives from more than 30 nations will discuss ways to improve regional coordination and increase capacity to challenge terrorist propaganda and recruitment.

The summit follows a similar meeting in the US in February which was attended by Attorney-General George Brandis.
