Gold has proven elusive for Australian swimmers at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, but they say their bronze medals are just the beginning.
West Australia's Brianna Throssell won bronze in the women's 200m butterfly on Monday, behind Zhang Yufei from China while Hungary's Liliana Szilagyi took gold.
As the junior European champion celebrated, 18-year-old Throssell was much more reserved about swimming a personal best of 2:09.65.
"I'm pretty stoked at the moment," she said.
"A bronze medal and a PB - I couldn't be happier."

Throssell went on to win her second bronze of the night with three other Aussies in the women's 4x100 medley relay.
China won gold and clocked 4:03.58, followed by Great Britain who were two seconds behind. The Aussies touched the wall 0.63 seconds later.
They managed to catch up after opening the relay in sixth place before Throssell's butterfly effect took the team from fifth to third.
"It was quite nerve-wracking, you can't go out too fast and try to catch them," she said.
"I was thinking 'holy moly, holy moly - I could have mowed them down'."
Backstroke swimmer Amy Forrester said bronze is just the beginning for her and she won't stop there.
"One of the best feelings in the world to see your flag go up," the 16-year-old said.
The medley team also included 16-year-old Ella Bond in breaststroke and Ami Matsuo in freestyle.
The group bronze is Sydneysider Ami Matsuo's second following the mixed medley a day earlier.
"Being able to go not just once, but twice, feels amazing," she said.
The 18-year-old says her performances so far have bolstered her confidence going into her next final, the 100m freestyle.
"I'm still happy from the bronze medal, and that's motivated me to do it for the team."
