Australia is reportedly in talks with the US over hosting B-1 bombers in the Northern Territory.

A Defence Department spokesman says the Australian government and US administration are discussing details of enhanced air co-operation, but no decisions have been made about the nature, size, location or duration of any activities, The Australian newspaper reports.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott last week said he believed there were no plans to transport B-1 bombers to Australia, after a US military official said the US planned to bulk up its presence in the country.
