There's disco balls, shiny outfits and co-ordinated dance moves.

It can only mean one thing: Australia is preparing for Eurovision.

For these students, the opportunity to throw a Eurovision party, was not one to be passed up.

Organiser Nathalie Pinson has been a Eurovision fan since she was a child.

"I never knew there were other Eurovision fans at school and I saw how many people love it and thought let's get together and have a party and celebrate something that's so much fun," she said.

Sisters, Mia and Lara Block are already serious Eurovision fans.

Last year, they travelled to Denmark to watch the competition, an experience the pair won't forget.

"There were lots of lights, it was very colourful, the music was very loud, there were lots of flashing lights"

Their love of Eurovision was inherited from their father, Michael.

"Ever since I came to Australia, my family and all the other immigrant families I grew up with were really interested in Eurovision," he siad.

"I go back more than 40 years."

Mr Block says his daughters are already preparing to go to Europe, to attend next year's event.

"I'm very proud of them in one respect, and very scared at all the air tickets I'm going to have to buy," he said.

"And we'll all be cheering very loudly for Guy Sebastian because if he wins we'll definitely be going next year."

For student, Zelda Winestock, Eurovision provides a break from the more serious global issues...and an opportunity to embrace different cultures.

"There might be conflicts between countries and there might be problems in the world but for a couple of weeks they just send represenatatives to wear sparkly clothes and sing pop songs and have a great time."
