Australia picks up three gold in para swim

Australian swimmers have claimed another three gold medals at the IPC World Championships in Montreal.

Australian swimmers have won a further three gold medals and broken a world record on day two of competition at the IPC World Championships in Montreal.

Paralympic gold medallist Blake Cochrane dominated the men's 100m breaststroke SB7 final, breaking the world record in 1:17.83, and taking 0.84 of a second off the world mark he set in London last year.

Cochrane maintained his strong stroke through to the wall, claiming the title more than four seconds faster than Simon Boer from the Netherlands (1:22.04), with Great Britain's Sascha Kindred (1:23.69) in third.

After winning the men's 100m freestyle S9 final, Paralympic great Matthew Cowdrey got off to a strong start in the men's 50m freestyle S9 final.

Cowdrey continued to show excellent form as he powered through to the finish in 25.16 claiming the gold medal, his second of the meet.

But that wasn't it for Cowdrey, as he went on to swim in the men's 200m individual medley SM9 final, a race he won gold in at the 2012 London Paralympics.

Cowdrey came from fifth place at the 100m mark to win his second gold medal for the night in 2:17.31.

Australia's first medal winner from day one, Teigan van Roosmalen backed up to claim bronze in the women's 100m breaststroke SB13 final in a time of 1:24.34.
