Australia returns Egyptian antiquities

A collection of antiquities has been returned to Egyptian authorities during a ceremony in Canberra.

Australia has handed back a number of antiquities to Egyptian authorities.

The collection, which included many funerary objects such as a wooden hand belonging to an anthropoid coffin, was seized from an auction house and private residence by the Ministry for the Arts and Australian Federal Police.

The handover took place at the Egyptian embassy in Canberra on Wednesday.
