Australia seventh at short-course worlds

Australia have added two bronze medals on the final night of the world short-course swimming titles in China to finish seventh on the medal table.

Bronze to the women's 4x50m freestyle relay and Mitch Larkin have helped Australia finish seventh on the medal table at the world short-course swimming titles in China.

The two medals on the final night of competition took Australia's tally to 12 - two gold, two silver and eight bronze.

Holly Barratt, Emily Seebohm, Minna Atherton and Carla Buchanan combined in the relay with their time of 1min 36.34sec good enough for third.

"I just really try to enjoy it because you don't get many opportunities to race with these girls and race against the best in the world," Seebohm said.

Larkin was tied third in the men's 200m backstroke final with Poland's Radoslaw Kawecki in a time of 1:48.25.

"It has been a big year and to finish off on the podium in the green and gold is pretty awesome," Larkin said.

The women's 4x100m medley of Atherton, Jess Hansen, Seebohm and Ariarne Titmus touched in third but were disqualified for transitioning too quickly from the breaststroke to the butterfly leg of the race.

Barratt was fifth in the final of the women's 50m freestyle while the men's 4x100m medley relay finished eighth in their final.

The United States topped the medal count with 36, 17 of them gold.
