Australia have lost their U19 Cricket World Cup warm-up match against Pakistan by 38 runs in Dubai.
Chasing 179 to win, Australia were all out for 141 in their final warm-up match, ahead of their first pool match for the tournament against Namibia on Saturday.
The Aussie's disciplined bowling attack had set the match up in their favour, but the batsmen were unable to capitalise.
"You always back yourself to win most games if you restrict the opposition to 179 on an outfield like this," captain Alex Gregory said after the match on Wednesday.
"We need to maintain a bit of positive intent out there against the spin bowlers through the middle overs to try and hit the outfielders and manipulate the strike as much as possible."
Gregory said the bowlers' pleasing output in the middle overs needed to be replicated by the batsmen.
