The Serbian Ministry of the Interior (MUP) has confirmed the arrest of Australian citizen Bogdan Cuic, who is the subject of an international arrest warrant in relation to a murder committed in Australia in 2012.

Mr Cuic, who is allegedly connected with the Bandinos bikie gang, has been detained in prison in the Serbian city of Novi Sad.

Mr Cuic reportedly fled Australia the day after Brisbane man Jei "Jack" Lee was shot and killed in the carpark of Warrigal Square shopping centre in Brisbane.

In a statement to SBS, the Attorney-General’s Department has confirmed that Mr Cuic has been arrested in Serbia in response to an Interpol Red Notice from Australia. He will face prosecution in Australia for the murder of Jei "Jack" Lei in Brisbane in 2012.
