A group of business, industry and welfare bodies is calling for more determined action by the Australian government to counter climate change.
It comes as the Coalition prepares to release Australia's post-2020 emissions targets ahead of a major United Nations climate conference in Paris later this year.
Among the organisations to agree on a set of joint policy principles are the Business Council of Australia, the Australian Aluminium Council and the Australian Council on Social Service.
They're joined by the Australian Council of Trade Unions, the Climate Institute and the Australian Industry Group.
AIG principal adviser on public policy Tennant Reed told Kristina Kukolja the goal is to encourage policy development that takes into account the need for business to stay competitive.
