The Commonwealth Games Association unveiled the uniforms on Glasgow Street in Collingwood today.
Nanna knits and Dunlop volleys feature alongside chunky scarves and "rainforest" green jackets.
The Association described them as "modern, youthful and chic", but the apparel received mixed responses on social media.
There was some support among Twitter users.
The unfiforms were locally designed and manufactured by Australian Defence Apparel.
Netballer Bianca Chatfield and squash player Sarah Cardwell have given their tick of approval for the warm-looking uniforms to withstand the infamous Scottish summer.
"I can just imagine the netballers all trying to figure out which outfits look best," she said.
The Games begin with an opening ceremony at Celtic Park on July 23.
