Australian doctor fighting ebola in Sierra Leone

An Australian doctor is at the frontline of efforts to curb the outbreak of Ebola in Sierra Leone.

The World Health Organisation recently announced that the deadly Ebola virus had spread from central Africa to the western edge of the continent.

An Australian doctor is at the frontline of efforts to curb the outbreak in Sierra Leone, where new Ebola cases have been reported.

Sydney-based public health expert Doctor Richard Broome is working as part of an emergency response team organised by the international Red Cross.

He spoke to Zara Zaher about his work.
