The majority of Australians living with chronic kidney disease indicators don't know they have it, experts say.

AUSTRALIAN KIDNEY DISEASE NUMBERS

* 1.7 million Australian adults living with signs of chronic kidney disease

* Ninety per cent don't know they have it

* Sixty Australians die of kidney-related diseases every day

* More than 1.3 million hospital admissions for dialysis in 2014/15

* People with chronic kidney disease incur 85 per cent higher health care costs and 50 per cent higher government subsidies

* The total costs attributable solely to chronic kidney disease estimated at $4.1 billion in 2012.
