Australian Katherine Kirk has hit a hole-in-one to sit tied second after the opening round of the North Texas LPGA Shootout.
Kirk hit four birdies with two bogeys, but it was her ace on the par-3 fourth hole in windy conditions that was the highlight of her round.
"I hit it so well. I bent down to pick up the tee, then (someone) in the group said, 'get in the hole'," she said.
"And I'm like, 'what?' and it went in. I didn't even see it, to be honest."
It was her third hole-in-one in LPGA tournaments.
Kirk, ranked 194 in the world, finished the round with a four-under 67, while Korean Mi Jung Hur leads the tournament one stroke ahead after a bogey-free round.
The 35-year-old sits tied with Ariya Jutanugarn, Michelle Wie, Jennifer Song, Sung Hyun Park, Sandra Changkija and Marina Alex.
Minjee Lee was the next best-placed Australian, a shot back in with a share of ninth.
US golfer Lexi Thompson shot a two-under 69 LPGA appearance round since a rules violation cost her a likely victory in the first major tournament of the year in California.
I'm glad to be back in competition," Thompson said.
All I'm focused on is the tournament that I'm at right now out here in Texas.
"I'm forgetting about it all. It's time to move."
Top-ranked Lydia Ko of New Zealand, who turned 20 on Monday, shot a 70 in her first round.
