The Australian nurse has left Cairns Hospital where she was admitted last week after showing signs of fever.

She had recently returned from Sierra Leone where she cared for Ebola patients.

“It’s a huge relief that the tests have cleared me of having the Ebola virus," she siad.

"It confirms that our protection and safety measures are working well. I’ll be staying in precautionary isolation for the rest of the  three weeks since I last had contact with patients in Sierra Leone.

“The outpouring of support from my family, friends and so many Australians and others around the world has been overwhelming and really quite emotional for me.”

Ms Kovack, a Red Cross aid worker, will stay in isolation for the remainder of the 21 day incubation period.
