Australian Olympic Committee chief executive Fiona de Jong has resigned from the organisation after 10 Games campaigns over 12 years.
De Jong spent 10 years as the AOC's director of sport before becoming chief executive in 2014, helping to oversee Australia's involvement in three winter, four youth and three summer Olympics.
She will depart at the end of the year.
"I've enjoyed a most rewarding career with the AOC", de Jong said.
"With Rio behind us and a solid strategic framework in place to guide the AOC through to 2024, I am proud of the contribution I've made."
A former triathlete and lawyer, de Jong was called into action when tasked with negotiating the release of nine Australian Olympians from a Rio police station following alleged tampering of accreditation passes.
After a Rio Olympics campaign that yielded eight gold medals and 10th place on the medal tally, which was below team expectations, de Jong said her replacement faces "formidable" challenges.
"Now is the best time for someone else to build on this framework and drive the Tokyo 2020 and 2024 campaigns from the beginning of the new quadrennial - both a formidable and exciting task," she said.
De Jong, a Harvard graduate, was the first female AOC chief executive, and the organisation's president John Coates has highlighted her "passion and energy".
"Fiona can be immensely satisfied with all she has accomplished and the legacy she leaves," Coates said.
"This personal commitment combined with a decade of incremental improvements to Olympic team operations and her recent work with the AOC executive and staff driving a strong and robust 10-year strategic framework means she leaves an enduring legacy for the Olympic movement in Australia."
