Australians have joined the international outcry over the kidnappings of 276 schoolgirls in Nigeria.

Demonstrators have called for more global action after the United Nations Security Council condemned the terrorist act.

But protesters say Nigeria needs military help to combat Boko Haram and they've called on the Abbott Government to exert pressure on the fellow Commonwealth nations to act.
