Australia's Davis Cup semi set for Glasgow

Australia's Davis Cup semi-final next month against Great Britain will be played on an indoor hardcourt in Glasgow.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) on Wednesday announced the Emirates Arena in the Scottish city will host Great Britain's bid for a first final berth since 1978 and Australia's first since they won the title in 2003.

The tie will be played between September 18-20.

Britain secured their last-four spot with a 3-1 win over France in July at the Queen's Club in London while Australia fought back to down Kazakhstan on grass in Darwin.

A return to indoor climes in Glasgow will also bring back memories of Britain's 3-2 first-round win over the United States in March this year, where Andy Murray beat Donald Young and John Isner in the singles rubbers.

"It's exciting for the team to be going back to Glasgow," Murray said.

"It's always special to play in front of a home crowd and we are fortunate to have played our last three ties at home.

"We had a unique atmosphere in Glasgow, the crowd was unbelievable. It's going to be a huge week for our team and we'll be doing everything we can to get GB through to the final."
