Australia's jobless rate rises in November

Australia's unemployment rate rose to 6.3 per cent in November, official figures show.

Unemployment in October was unchanged at 6.2 per cent.

The unemployment rate was expected to rise to 6.3 per cent in November, with 15,000 jobs added to the economy, according to an AAP survey of 15 economists.

The total number of people with jobs rose 42,700 to 11.640 million in November, according to seasonally adjusted figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.

Full-time employment rose 1,800 to 8.06 million in November and part-time employment was up 40,800 to 3.58 million.

The participation rate - those that have a job, are looking for work or are ready to start work - rose to 64.7 per cent, from 64.6 per cent in October.
