Australian golfer Bronson La'Cassie is headed to the US PGA Tour next season after winning the secondary Web.com Tour's Cox Classic in a playoff.

Queenslander La'Cassie, 30, beat American Matt Bettencourt with a par on the third extra hole of sudden-death at Champions Run in Omaha, Nebraska on Sunday after shooting a final round four-under 67 to match Bettencourt (67) at 21-under 263.

The win and the $US144,000 first prizemoney in the last regular event of the tour season lifted him from 33rd to sixth on the Web.com Tour money list with $US255,629 in season earnings.

The top 25 after the tournament earned US PGA Tour cards for next season which starts in October.

"It feels really good, it gives you the belief that you can do it again so it feels great," La'Cassie said.

"I've never been to the tour before, so that will be sweet. ... I've always wanted to play in America watching it on TV back home. This is the place you want to be if you're going to make it."

La'Cassie still plans to play in the four tournament Web.com Tour play-off series in order to position himself with the highest priority ranking possible on the main tour for next season.

"I'm playing well," he said. "I'm really not going to worry about too much and just keep playing."

Before this event, University of Minnesota graduate La'Cassie had made nine cuts from 18 starts, managing two third placings among five top-25 finishes.
