Australia's video game habits revealed

What 3400 Australians have revealed about the nation's video gaming habits:

GAME ON - THE VIDEO GAMING HABITS OF THE NATION

* 68% of Australians play video games

* 91% of children aged 5-14 play video games

* Men and boys play for 100 minutes a day, on average

* Women and girls play for 75 minutes a day, on average

* Players aged 50 and over are the fastest growing segment of the gaming community

* 49% of respondents aged 50 and over say they are gamers

* Most older players play to maintain brain function and ward off dementia

* The average Australian adult player has been playing for more than 12 years

* 24% of respondents have used video games at work for training

* 35% of parents say games are part of their children's school curriculum
