Australia's youth 'have high hopes but low expectations'

A national survey has provided a snap shot of the hopes and dreams of young people in Australia.

A national survey has provided a snap shot of the hopes and dreams of young people in Australia.

Mission Australia's youth survey quizzed almost 14,000 people aged between the ages of 14 and 19.

The survey found young people in Australia rank career success and financial independence as being more important than having a family or community connections.

And although many expressed high hopes for home ownership and successful careers there are those who fear these goals are out of reach.
