Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann has resigned saying he can't count on the full support of his Social Democrat party.

Austria has seen a surge in support for the far right Freedom Party in the Presidential election currently under way and Faymann's demise is seen by many as punishment for his failure to stop that.

Following developments from Vienna is Kerry Skyring and he's speaking with Peggy Giakoumelos.
