Aust's Tomljanovic out of Nottingham Open

Two seeds have been knocked out of the Nottingham Open in the first round, including Australian eighth seed Ajla Tomljanovic.

Australian eighth seed Ajla Tomljanovic has been knocked out of the first round of the Nottingham Open.

The Croatian-born star who calls Brisbane home was one of two seeds to taste defeat on Monday as top-level women's tennis return to the central England grass-court venue for the first time in 42 years.

Tomljanovic went down 4-6 7-6 (7-1) 7-5 to Lauren Davis of the United States.

Fourth seed Karin Knapp lost 6-4 6-2 to Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer.

Other winners before rain arrived late in the afternoon were Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, Bojana Jovanovski and Ana Konjuh.

World no.13 Agnieszka Radwanska is the only member of the top 20 playing in the Wimbledon warm-up tournament, and is looking to rebound from a first-round loss at the French Open.
