Automotive Holdings Group meets guidance

Automotive Holdings Group achieved a rise in full year profit despite a slight downturn in the domestic car market.

Car retailer and logistics company Automotive Holdings Group is on track for further growth after a strong rise in full year profit.

The group made a $72.9 million net profit in the year to June 30, up 12.5 per cent on the previous year.

Chief executive Bronte Howson said several "acts of God" affected the company's bottom line, but it remains in a strong position in the current financial year.

"There has been some testing times," Mr Howson said.

Drought in the Riverina had hurt local farmers, which in turn impacted their logistic divisions tasked with transporting fresh produce, he said.

Despite those one-off issues and a slight downturn in the car market, AHG's strong balance sheet meant it was well placed to continue to deliver stable returns, Mr Howson said.

The group made a number of investments in the 2013/14 financial year, including two refrigerated logistics companies, and said more businesses could be added to its stable in fiscal 2015.

The two refrigerated transport enterprises, as well as Bradstreet Motor Group, which AHG will take control of on Tuesday, are expected to raise about $600 million in revenue over the next financial year.
