Blade-wielding thieves have robbed a convenience store in Sydney's west.

Police are appealing for information after two men - one armed with an axe and the other with a knife - entered the store on the corner of Boundary Road and Ives Avenue in Liverpool about 11.30pm on Sunday.

One man jumped the counter and stole money from the register while the other stood guard at the door.

The pair fled in a small white vehicle.

Two women working in the store were uninjured and called police.
