Ayshford to join Warriors from Sharks

Blake Ayshford, who's made only a handful of NRL appearances in the Sharks' 2015 campaign, is heading to the Warriors in 2016.

Centre Blake Ayshford, sidelined for most of Cronulla's run to the NRL semi-finals, has signed a two-year contract with the Warriors.

The 27-year-old Sydneysider has 124 NRL appearances to his name, including 104 for Wests Tigers from 2009 to 2013, but he's made only a handful this season as the Sharks have transformed themselves from wooden spooners to potential champions.

Warriors coach Andrew McFadden says Ayshford has qualities the club is seeking as it reshapes for next year and beyond.

"While we're always seeking to create depth and competition, we have also identified the need for more experienced and durable players with the level of professionalism we're after," McFadden said in a statement on Monday.

"Blake will bring those qualities to the club."

Ayshford has mostly played in the centres, but also has NRL experience on the wing, at five-eighth and in the forwards.

He played in two finals campaigns with the Tigers in 2010 and 2011 including the play-off the Warriors won 22-20 en route to making the 2011 grand final.
