The expansion of Formula One is set to continue with contracts signed to hold a Grand Prix in Azerbaijan from 2016.
"I am delighted to officially announce we have signed a contract to bring Formula One racing to Baku in 2016," Azerbaijan's minister of youth and sport Azad Rahimov said on Friday in a statement.
The race, known as the European Grand Prix, is to be held on a city course in the historic capital Baku.
The route of the track is not yet confirmed but the intention is for it to use central streets and pass the main sights of the city.
Earlier this week, the return of the Mexican GP was confirmed from 2015.
