A woman accused of trying to kill a baby boy by putting him in a Sydney drain a day after he was born is due to face court on Friday.

The 30-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, allegedly pushed the baby through a narrow opening of a drain at Quakers Hill, in Sydney's northwest, and dropped him about 2.4 metres in late November.

The baby survived for five days and was eventually found by a cyclist.

He was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital and recovered before being taken into the care of the NSW Family and Community Services (FACS) Minister.

The woman, who didn't apply for bail during a November hearing, is listed for a mention at Penrith Local Court on Friday.
