NSW Premier Mike Baird has personally thanked emergency workers for their efforts during the Sydney siege.

"Whilst we saw in those hours the worst of humanity, I strongly believe in what followed, we saw the best of humanity. We saw that in all of your incredible actions," Mr Baird said at a morning tea at NSW Government House in Sydney.

Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the event a month to the day since the Martin Place siege ended in the deaths of hostages Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson, and gunman Man Haron Monis.
