Jonny Bairstow's 156 not out has powered England to 7-384 against Sri Lanka at lunch on day two of their third and final Test.

Bairstow made 150 for the second time in three career Test centuries and hit 17 fours to put England in control at Lord's.

England teetered at 4-84 when Bairstow arrived, and then at 6-227.

Bairstow was part of partnerships of 80 with Alastair Cook (85) and 63 with Moeen Ali on Thursday, and combined for a seventh-wicket stand of 144 with Chris Woakes on Friday.

Woakes was the only wicket for Sri Lanka on the second morning, caught and bowled by spinner Rangana Herath for 66. Herath was the tourists' best bowler with 3-68.
