Ballarat hospital to get $461m revamp

Ballarat Base Hospital in regional Victoria will get a $461.6 million upgrade in the upcoming state budget.

Ballarat in regional Victoria will have its hospital revamped in a $461.6 million upgrade.

Tuesday's 2018/19 budget will include a complete upgrade of the Ballarat Base Hospital, allowing it to treat at least 18,000 more emergency patients and an extra 14,500 inpatients each year.

"A brand-new Ballarat Base Hospital will give local families the very best health care, close to home," Health Minister Jill Hennessy said.
