Bangladesh keep top spinners under wraps

The Bangladesh Cricket Board XI - without any of the country's top Test spinners - has been named for Australia's only warm-up game before the first Test.

Australia's inexperienced batting line-up won't get a look at any of Bangladesh's front-line spinners before the first Test next month.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board XI has been named for Australia's only warm-up game, a three-day clash in Fatullah on the southern outskirts of the capital Dhaka.

Of the four spinners who were used during Bangladesh's recent two-Test series against South Africa - Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, Jubair Hossain and Mahmudullah - none were included for the October 3-5 fixture.

Instead, a pace-heavy attack and part-time spinning all-rounders will look to dent the confidence of Australia's new-look batting line-up before the opening match of the two-Test series starts on October 9.

Australia's last Test of only four played against Bangladesh was in 2006, an innings and 80-run win in Chittagong.

The ploy to deny the visitors a solid hit-out against any of the Test spinners they're likely to face on the dry and dusty wickets isn't being sugar-coated.

"We are taking home advantage," Bangladesh national selector Minhajul Abedin told cricket.com.au.

"Like any other touring side that comes to Bangladesh, we will make it challenging for Australia to play spin, which is our biggest area of strength.

"We have picked more batsmen because Australia has a good bowling attack."

The BCB XI line-up includes Test opener Imrul Kayes, three-Test allrounder Soumya Sarkar and teenage batsman Mosaddek Hossain, who averages 67 in first-class cricket with five centuries in 11 matches.

BCB XI squad: Imrul Kayes, Anamul Haque, Mahmudul Hasan, Mohammad Mithun, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain, Shuvagata Hom, Naeem Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Kamrul Islam, Abu Jayed, Shafiul Islam.
