Athletics Australia (AA) is apparently set to sever ties with Eric Hollingsworth, with a report that the banished head coach will resign on Thursday.
Hollingsworth was kicked off the Commonwealth Games team last month after he issued a media release that strongly criticised star hurdler Sally Pearson.
The Glasgow controversy confirmed that Hollingworth's time at AA was coming to an end.
His contract is due to expire at the end of October.
The Age website said Hollingsworth's exit will be confirmed after he tendered his resignation on Wednesday to AA president David Grace QC and chief executive Dellys O'Brien.
Grace declined to comment on the report when contacted by AAP.
Hollingsworth issued the media release only hours before Pearson was due to defend her Games hurdles title.
He criticised Pearson for not attending a pre-Games training camp.
The Olympic and world champion returned fire after winning gold in Glasgow, saying Hollingsworth had become alienated from the athletes.
The pair fell out earlier this year.
AA have commissioned a review of the Games team and the Australian Sports Commission will keep a close eye on the panel's findings.
