Banned Taofifenua misses Fiji, Aust Tests

A three-week ban for kicking an opponent in the head will keep Toulon lock Romain Taofifenua out of the French rugby squad to take on Fiji and Australia.

French lock Romain Taofifenua was ruled out of the coming rugby internationals against Fiji and Australia on Thursday after being banned for three weeks for kicking an opponent in the head.

The 24-year-old Toulon forward was punished for kicking out at Ulster centre Stuart Oldfield in last weekend's European Cup clash between the two sides.

The tournament disciplinary committee's decision means that Taofifenua, who has three caps, will miss the November 8 game against Fiji in Marseille and the Paris showdown with the Wallabies the following week.

Clermont's Sebastien Vahaamahina and Toulon's Jocelino Suta are two of the favourites to be called into the French squad in Taofifenua's place.
