Interim Carlton coach John Barker says he is happy with the process the Blues have undertaken in their bid to find a new coach for 2016 and beyond.
Three days out from his 10th AFL match in the caretaker's job since replacing the sacked Mick Malthouse, Barker has yet to be formally interviewed for the permanent position.
Current Hawthorn assistant Brendon Bolton, Fremantle assistant Simon Lloyd and Sydney's Stuart Dew are also understood to be right in the running for the top job.
All three of those clubs will be involved in finals action this year.
Speaking at the annual Peter Mac Cup launch on Wednesday morning, Barker said Blues chief executive Steven Trigg and president Mark LoGiudice had been very clear about their vision for the club, which is languishing in 16th position on the ladder.
"I've had nothing but real clear conversations at the moment, with the board, with the CEO," said Barker.
"They have been really open and transparent about the process that is occurring.
"They need to do their due diligence about who the next coach is going to be, that is just good governance and we are doing that process at the moment."
Barker, who was the backline coach at the time of Malthouse's sacking, has controlled nine matches for just two wins, over Port Adelaide and Gold Coast.
The Blues have lost their past five games.
Barker has had stints as an assistant coach with both Ross Lyon at St Kilda and Alastair Clarkson at Hawthorn.
While an experienced assistant coach, Barker said the "totality" of the senior coaching position had been the biggest change in his role on assuming the top job.
